Surya launches energy-saving campaign

Nagpur , Feb 4 Surya Roshni Ltd, manufacturer of tubes and bulbs, has launched an energy-saving campaign for a month to create awareness about conserving energy, a top official of the company said today.

Lighting used for street, home, office and other purposes presently consumes five times more electricity than necessary. Surya would contact more than one lakh retailers and educate them on use of energy efficient lamps, company Chairman Jaiprakash Agarwal told reporters here.

The campaign will help reduce electricity bills, reducing green house emission levels, global warming and decrease dependency on oil and other forms of energy which are precious fuel, he said.

The company has also launched a tubelight having a life span of 15 years with an electronic ballast which is almost three times longer than the ordinary tube light, Agarwal said.

These tubelights had been produced using lamps with quality filament/cathode and other components produced in two plants at Nainital (Uttarakhand) and near Gwalior, he said.
