Pitroda asks Uttarakhand to set up knowledge commission

Dehra Dun, Nov 9 (PTI) Knowledge Commission Chairman Sam Pitroda today asked Uttarakhand to have its own branch of the commission which can implement recommendations of the national body in the state.

Speaking at a seminar here on the eve of the ninth formation day of Uttarakhand tomorrow, Pitroda said the state has the potential to become the knowledge capital of the country.

He said the goal was not difficult to achieve as the state had an able leadership.

Finding faults in the current education system, he said most of the education degrees except from IIMs and IITs are useless in India.

Pitroda also urged scientists involved in research programmes to come into the field of teaching and teachers to join the field of scientific research.

He also said the country will witness another communication revolution in the years to come.
