Allahabad, April 30 (PTI) The Allahabad High Court today directed the Uttar Pradesh government to have a dialogue with the neighbouring state of Uttarakhand on the issue of release of adequate water into the river Ganga.
A Division Bench comprising Justice Ashok Bhusan and Justice Arun Tandon passed the order in the course of hearing on a Public Interest Litigation which drew the court's attention to pollution in the river.
The court suggested that senior officials from both the states could take part in the dialogue.
The court also asked the state government to consider the option of banning the use of polythene along the banks of the river.
The court fixed May 21 as the next date of hearing in the matter.
