Dehra Dun, Apr 1 (PTI) Expressing surprise over the reported decision of the Centre to close two hydel projects on the river Ganga in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank today said it is inappropriate to take such a decision wihout taking the state government into confidence.
This is inappropriate to take a decision regarding the closure of two hydel projects 480 Mw Pala Maneri and 381 Mw Bhairon ghati in Uttarakhand without taking the state government into confidence, Nishank said in a statement here.
He said he is in favour of maintaining continuous and uninterrupted flow of Ganga water and the fate of the power projects on Ganga has to be decided by Ganga River Basin Authority (GRBA) headed by the Prime Minister and so far the authority has taken no decision on them.
