The Uttarakhand Congress today authorised party chief Sonia Gandhi to choose the new state party president.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting here of the Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) attended among others by Bhola Pandey, co in-charge of party affairs in the state.
A proposal to authorise Gandhi to pick up the new party chief was adopted unanimously by the newly-elected state PCC.
Pandey told reporters a final decision regarding the new state party head would be taken by the Congress president.
Yashpal Arya, a dalit leader, is the incumbent state party chief.
