Cold wave spoils travel plans, sparks protest

New Delhi: Cold wave in north India has thrown rail traffic off-track with three trains – Swaraj Express, Udayan Abha Toofan Express and Purshottam Express – have being cancelled and 20 delayed.

Two flights have also been delayed due to the fog.

In Kanpur, residents have taken to the streets to demand relief measures from the state government as a cold wave sweeps across the region.

Residents not equipped with adequate winter wear find it extremely difficult to cope with falling temperatures as the temperature in the region has been fluctuating between 3 and 4 degree celsius. Haldwani in Uttarakhand too is facing the biting chill.

Travellers find it very difficult to cope with severe cold as many trains and flights got delayed due to thick fog.

The drop in temperature has so far had a devastating effect on thousands across the country who have been displaced from their homes.
