Nishank launches infra projects in Doon

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank yesterday launched several new projects as part of his government’s ‘green Doon city’ initiative and also to strengthen infrastructure facilities here.

Nishank laid the foundation stones of several such projects and made new announcements of building flyovers at a cost of Rs 200-300 crore.

In the morning, he went to Ghantaghar to launch one of the most ambitious project of widening the narrow Chakrata Raod in order to de-congest the traffic of Dehradun. Chakrata Road is the one of the biggest bottlenecks in Dehradun. “After a long wait, the Uttarakhand government has now finally cleared the major projects of Dehradun city,” said Alok Jain, Infrastructure Development Commissioner.

As part of the initiative, the government will build a new sports stadium matching international standards, construct 800 flats and parking facilities in the city besides a series of new flyovers as well as an overhead bridge.

Speaking on the occasion, Nishank said Dehradun will soon witness the era of multiplexes and malls, which will be shortly be declared open for public. One such mall-cum-multiplex will be at the ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminus) area which has been built on public-private partnership model, under the joint partnership between the state government and the Ramkey company.

The Chief Minister said the government is widening at least 16 major crossings of the city with a cost of Rs 28 crore.
