A slight intensity earthquake of 3.3 magnitude on the Richter scale on Monday jolted parts of Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts in Uttarakhand where people rushed out of their houses , a top Met department official said.
The quake parts of the two districts at 1431 hours with its epicentre at 30.5 degree North and 79.1 degree East, said Anand Shamra, Director of Met Department.
As the quake hit, people living in Chamoli, Gopeshwar, Karnprayag, Rudraprayag and Ukhimath rushed out of their houses However, no loss of life or property has been reported from anywhere.
The area had suffered a major earthquake in 1999 when nearly 100 people were killed and hundreds rendered homeless.
