UPCL employee held for taking bribe

Dehradun, Feb 10 (PTI) An Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited employee was today arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000, official sources said here.

Acting on a complaint by Shivam Agrawal, who runs an advertising agency, a team of the Vigilance Department laid a trap and caught Indravir Singh Negi while he was allegedly accepting the bribe, they said.

Agrawal had yesterday lodged a complaint with the vigilance department that Negi, a media assistant on contract, was demanding Rs 4,500 in exchange for a payment of Rs 1.25 lakh to his agency.

The UPCL had published some advertisements in newspapers through his agency.

Two days ago, an accountant of UPCL at Haridwar was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe for settling the electricity bill of an 'ashram'.
