Uttarakhand's first Community Radio in next 10 days

Dehra Dun, Mar 3 (PTI) Uttarakhand will have its first Community Radio in the next 10 days.

Union Minister of state for Information and Broadcasting S Jagathrakshakan today told a meeting with officials here that the Community Radio would be operational at Mukteshwar.

He said the Centre has planned to encourage the setting up of Community Radio Stations in the region in a big way and permission has been granted to National Institute for Visually Handicapped (NIVH) here to start a Community Radio which is also expected to be operational within three months.

Jagathrakshankan said letters of intent have also been issued to 15 other institutions, including 13 Krishi Vigyan Kendras to set up CRSs in the state.

He said construction work for upgradation of Doordarshan Kendra studio at Dehra Dun is expected to be completed by the end of next financial year
