BJP protests against Centre over industrial package

Dehra Dun, May 6 (PTI) Ruling BJP today staged sit-in demonstrations across Uttarakhand to protest against the alleged negative attitude of the Centre towards extending concessional industrial package (CIP) to the state.

BJP workers today gathered here and staged a dharna in the Clock Tower area. They criticised the central government for not extending the industrial package, which expired in March this year.

"Centre has so far failed to respond to the state government's repeated pleas to extend the industrial package, which is very important for attracting investors to the backward hill state. This clearly shows the negative attitude of the Centre towards Uttarakhand," said party general secretary Dhan Singh Rawat.

He said dharna and protest demonstrations were held at all district headquarters.

A 10-year CIP was introduced in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh by the NDA government in January 2003.
