Uttarakhand government to launch cheap ration scheme for BPL

Dehradun, Feb 10 (PTI) The Uttarakhand government will launch a scheme tomorrow to provide cheap rice and wheat to people belonging to below poverty line (BPL), Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said today. Under the scheme named after former NDA Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the beneficiaries will be given wheat at Rs 2 per kg and Rice at Rs 3 per kg, Pokhriyal said. They will get 10 kg rice and 10 kg wheat per month under the programme 'Atal Foodgrains Scheme', he added. BJP President Nitin Gadkari will launch the scheme here tommorrow, Pokhriyal said. In other districts, the scheme will be inaugurated by state ministers, he added.
