Uttarakhand bus mishap toll reaches 10

Three more persons today died at a hospital taking the toll in the bus mishap in Almora district to 10, police said here.

Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident, a day after a state-owned bus fell into a gorge at Bhajon area killing seven persons on the spot and injuring several others, officials said.

The Chief Minister also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 to next of kin of the deceased, they said.

Nishank further directed the officials to provide best medical care to the 22 injured.

पर्यटन महकमे की वेबसाइट में सुव्यवस्थित जानकारी नहीं मिलने से पर्यटकों व श्रद्धालुओं को मायूस नहीं होना पड़ेगा। महकमे ने अपनी वेबसाइट को अपडेट करने का जिम्मा विप्रो कंपनी को सौंपा है। कंपनी महकमे की जरूरत के हिसाब से नया साफ्टवेयर विकसित करेगी। उत्ताराखंड के पर्यटक स्थलों और उसके बारे में जरूरी जानकारी की अपेक्षा रखने वाले देश-विदेश के पर्यटकों व श्रद्धालुओं को फिलवक्त महकमे की वेबसाइट पर क्लिक करने पर कई जानकारी अधूरी मिल रही हैं। इससे विश्व पर्यटन मानचित्र पर मुकाम बनाने को छटपटा रहे राज्य की छवि पर असर पड़ रहा है। लिहाजा, महकमे ने वेबसाइट को अपडेट करने का जिम्मा विप्रो को सौंपा है। महकमे की योजना के मुताबिक नए पर्यटन सर्किटों व डेस्टिनेशन की जानकारी वेबसाइट पर उपलब्ध होगी। विप्रो वेबसाइट तैयार करेगा। पर्यटन सचिव राकेश शर्मा ने स्वीकार किया कि वेबसाइट अभी अपडेट नहीं है। विप्रो को नवंबर तक नए साफ्टवेयर के साथ रिपोर्ट सौंपने को कहा गया है। जरूरत पड़ी तो नया ट्रांसपोंडर लगाने से गुरेज नहीं किया जाएगा। सैफ गेम्स के मौके पर वेबसाइट व साफ्टवेयर का उद्घाटन करने पर विचार किया जा रहा है। पर्यटक स्थलों के ढांचागत विकास की मुहिम के अंतर्गत चार टूरिस्ट डेस्टिनेशन विकसित करने की योजना को मूर्त रूप दिया जा रहा है। इनमें दोनों मंडलों से दो-दो डेस्टिनेशन चयनित किए गए हैं। गढ़वाल में आसन बैराज से टौंस-यमुना घाटी के मध्य क्षेत्र चकराता और लैंसडौन के पीछे धूमाकोट तक कार्बेट नेशनल पार्क और कुमाऊं में जागेश्वर व पिथौरागढ़ को पर्यटन के नजरिए से विकसित किया जाएगा। एशियन डेवलपमेंट बैंक के कंसल्टेंट करीब एक पखवाड़े तक उक्त क्षेत्र में दौरा करने के बाद प्रोजेक्ट बनाएंगे। सचिव के मुताबिक मुंबई में अप्रवासी उत्ताराखंडियों को जोड़ने के लिए 'कौथीग' के आयोजन पर विचार किया जा रहा है।

BJP Uttarakhand rebels to revive anti-CM stir after local polls

NEW DELHI: Unfazed by the BJP leadership ruling out change of leadership in Uttarakhand, party rebels opposed to Chief Minister B.C. Khanduri on Monday said they have decided to lie low till the on-going Panchayat elections get over in September. "The crisis is not yet over. We have not given up our demand for change of guard in Uttarakhand. But keeping in mind the Panchayat elections-- results of which will be declared on September 13-- we have decided not to press the matter further," one of the rebel ministers in Khanduri's cabinet said on condition of anonymity. The nominations for the panchayat polls are on in Uttarakhand. Polling will be held in the hill state on September 5, 7 and 10. Results will be declared on September 13. "There is no question of going back on our stand for removal of Khanduri. He has not been able to win over even one minister to his side. After the Panchayat results are out, we hope the central leadership will replace Khanduri without any pressure from us," said one of the rebel MLAs. BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy, however, said the issue has been taken care of. "There are no plans for a change in leadership. The grievances of the MLAs have been heard at highest level and their points would be taken care of," he told reporters.

Uttarakhand hit by unemployment

Dehradun, 12 Feb 2007 There are more than 4.5 lakh unemployed youth in Uttarakhand. The number of registered unemployed youth stands at 31.97 per cent.

The number of jobs created in the past five years has barely crossed 4 per cent of the total number of registered unemployed youth.

The creation of Uttarakhand held out many promises people in the state say the promises remain unfulfilled.

“I have four sons who work outside the State, we both live alone. The creation of Uttaranchal has changed nothing for us,” says Jagadeshwari Bahuguna, a retired schoolteacher.

Twenty-five-year-old Jitendar thought his diploma in electric engineering would be his ticket to a successful career in Uttarakhand.

But he works relentlessly in a makeshift shop in his village saving every rupee he can to migrate to the plains where he hopes his prospects of a career will be better.

“Though it is a small state and there were endless opportunities for creating jobs there is nothing for you. Everyone is migrating to the plains and I too will do the same,” Jitender said.

The Congress party insists it has created employment opportunities for the youth.

“The BJP should not talk about unemployment in the State, when they were in power industries were closed down we have given the youth job opportunities by setting up many industries, easy loan schemes and all,” spokesperson for the Congress Party Surendar Agarwal said.

But the Opposition says they have just not done enough.

“Whenever the Assembly was in session we raised this question, but the ruling party paid no heed,” the BJP’s Matbar Singh Kandari said.

Employment opportunities for the states youth are a major issue in every party’s election manifesto in this Assembly election.
